Eddie Lane

Charles Edward Lane, “Eddie” of Lexington, NC passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022, at the age of 75.  After several months of declining health, Eddie passed away surrounded by faith, love, and family.

Eddie was born on February 16, 1947, in Albemarle, NC to the parents of CV Lane and Alma Snuggs Lane.  He was a graduate from Albemarle High School and went on to graduate from NC State University.  Eddie’s strong work ethic and desire to take care of his family lead him to work in textiles at PPG in both Shelby and Lexington and he later retired from Owens Corning as sales manager in marine composites.  Eddie found joy in playing golf, wood working projects, spending time with his family and friends, and being at the beach.  His gentle nature and spirit touched the lives of many.  He was a man of faith, example of character, and hero to those who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, Charles Whitley, and nieces, Karen Whitley and Mary Susan Chase.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Donna Shroat Lane, of the home; children Penny Lane Penninger (Timothy), Charla Lane Williams and James Charles Lane; grandchildren, Sarah Lane Penninger Wright (Bobby), Brock Edward Penninger (Hope), Alexander Lane Williams, Lanie Anne Williams, Kennedy Hadassah Lane, Claire Bethany Lane; sisters, Sharon Lane Whitley, Ellen Lane Story (Joe); niece Jill Edquist (Jhoda) and Rusty Story (Dana).

A memorial service in the chapel of Tyro United Methodist Church will be held on Friday, November 11, 2022 at 11:00 am with Rev. Randy Foster officiating the service.  Visitation with family and friends will be held at 10:00 prior to the service.
