Charlotte Young Beck

May 7, 1931 — December 5, 2020

Charlotte Lee Young Beck, age 89 of West Old Hwy 64, left the bonds of this Earth and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 5, 2020.

Mrs. Beck will lie in state from 2:00pm until 5:00pm on Tuesday, December 8 th at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington.  Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, attendees are asked to practice social distancing and wear a mask.

A Celebration of Life for Charlotte will be held at Reeds Baptist Church at a later date.

Charlotte was born on May 7, 1931 in Davidson County to William Albert and Mamie Lee Myers Young.  Her life was her family and her ministry at Reeds Baptist Church where she was an active member.  She was very gifted and taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, played the piano, directed many weddings and funerals, and traveled on mission trips to Brazil.  She and Alex were also very involved with the Baptist Children’s Home in Thomasville, NC.  Charlotte loved to witness to others about her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and did so to all she came in contact with.  Even while at Lexington Health Care her witness continued.  Charlotte was also known for her culinary skills, which were always welcomed at any special gathering.

Charlotte retired from the “Dixie Office” after working in inventory management for 43 years.  She was a founding member of the “Dixie Troopers” and a devoted employee with many clerical skills.  She was especially known for keeping the “Big Black Books” for Smith Young.  These books contained the inventory cuttings of each group, by item, which the Dixie manufactured, as well as orders for each item.  This was long before computer technology came into being.  Back then it was a Burroughs calculator and fast fingers, and these records had to be perfect; needless to say, they were!

Charlotte leaves behind the love of her life, Alex, after 70 years of a wonderful marriage.  She also leaves behind two godsons, Roger and Rick Jarvis, as well as her church family, along with many friends that knew and loved her dearly.

Special thanks to Lexington Healthcare and staff and to Hospice of Davidson County for their love, concern and care given to Charlotte.
