Densel (Wormy)Avery (Dink) Widener, 70 of Twin Creeks Road went to be with the Lord on Saturday May 9, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Forsyth Memorial Park with Rev. Charles Whitaker officiating. Mr. Widener was born in Forsyth County on September 5, 1938 to Roby Taylor Widener and Daisy Debusk Widener. He served in the United States Army and was a member of Glory Road Baptist Church. He retired from R J Reynolds Tobacco Co. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers. He is survived by a son, Steven Taylor Widener of the home. A daughter, Michelle Mendenhall and husband Kenneth Carter of Winston Salem. Two very special Sisters, Johnsie Widener Ryan and husband Wayne of Winston Salem, and Katherine Widener Fox of Winston Salem. A beloved granddaughter and the sunshine of his life, Dorothy (Hope) Mendenhall of Winston Salem. Several special Nieces and Nephews. A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday May 11, 2009 at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel. Memorials may be made to Winston Salem Rescue Mission 717 Oak Street Winston Salem, NC 27101 The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Lowdermilk and Dr. Stinson, and the staff at Palliative care unit of Forsyth Medical Center. Your prayers and support were greatly appreciated. Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is serving the family.
