Gloria "Tuppy" Wood Holbrook

Gloria “Tuppy” Wood Holbrook, 72, of Jackson Avenue, died Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at her home.  The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Woodruff Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Steed officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home.  Mrs. Holbrook was born November 23, 1944, in Catawba County, to Barney Rosco Wood and Myrtle Durham Wood. She was a homemaker and a member of Sonlight Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Holbrook, who died February 28, 2001; brothers, Charlie Wood, Dennis Wood, and Bud Wood; and sisters, Peggy Wood Cartrette and Flora Wood Holbrook.  Surviving are sons, Wade Ray Holbrook (Debra) of Lexington and DJ “Dennis” Holbrook (Tracey) of Welcome; grandchildren, Christy Dawn Holbrook, Brian Wade Holbrook, Stacy Lynn Holbrook and fiancé Shawn Hutchins, Joshua Dennis Holbrook, Makala Ann Holbrook, and Amanda Horn; great-grandchildren, Peyton Hutchins, Ryder Huffman, and Rhylan Huffman; brother, JD Wood of Southmont; and sisters, Nora Wood Everhart of Lexington and Nancy Ann Shipton of Denton.
