Charlie Thomas Fritts, age 78, of Lexington passed away Saturday morning, July 12 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston Salem after an extended illness.
A funeral service to honor Tom’s life will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Foster officiating and burial will follow in Mount Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Tom was born in Davidson County, October 17, 1929 to Charlie Lee Fritts and Ida Snider Fritts. He was a lifelong member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church. After graduating from Tyro High School in 1947, Tom worked at Coble Dairy in Lexington for 25 years, before working with Merita Bread Company for many years where he retired as a route manager in 1999. Since his retirement, he worked part-time with Piedmont Furniture in Lexington. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 40 years Peggy Forest Fritts, brother Lucien Fritts and sisters Reba Ridenhour, Mabel Berrier, Nona Leonard and Louise Michael.
He is survived by his fiancee’, Shirley Stewart of Winston Salem, his two loving sons, Lowell Fritts and Betsy Batten, Mark Fritts and wife Karen of Lexington, grandsons, Zach Fritts and wife Danielle of China Grove, Scott Bradley and fiancee’ Josie Kopp of Graham, and Mike Bradley of Davisboro, GA, a granddaughter, Kellie Fritts of High Point, great grandchildren, Zoe Fritts, Tyler Sanders, Christopher Bradley, Philip Bradley, Nicholas Bradley and numerous nieces and nephews.
Tom was a wonderful father, grandfather and respected friend. He never met a stranger and tried his best, even in sickness, to put others first and maintain his sense of humor. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 8 pm at the funeral home.
