AQUAMATION

A Gentle and Eco-Friendly Alternative

What is Aquamation?

Aquamation is a gentle, water-based process that speeds up the body’s natural return to its basic elements. In a specialized chamber, warm water and an alkaline solution replicate the natural decomposition that occurs in the earth. This breaks the body down into water, carbon, and bone while preserving the integrity of the bone remains.

The bones are then carefully dried and processed into a fine, ash-like substance that can be returned to the family, similar to traditional cremation ashes. The process is carried out with dignity and care, offering an environmentally friendly option with a minimal ecological footprint.

Why Choose Aquamation?

Eco-Friendly: Aquamation uses far less energy than flame cremation, making it a sustainable choice for families who value reducing their environmental impact.

Gentle and Respectful: This process is natural and delicate, providing a peaceful, dignified way to honor your loved one.

Non-Toxic: Using only water and a natural alkali solution, aquamation produces no harmful emissions or chemicals, helping protect the environment.

Memorialization Options: The bone remains are very similar to those from flame cremation, allowing families to choose from a wide range of memorials, including urns, keepsakes, and other personal tributes.

How Does Aquamation Work?

Preparation: Once your loved one is in our care, they are gently placed in a specially designed aquamation chamber.

The Process: The chamber is filled with a warm water and natural alkali solution, heated to approximately 160–180°F. Over several hours, this gentle process naturally breaks the body down.

The Final Steps: When the process is complete, the remaining bone fragments are carefully dried and refined into a soft, ash-like powder, which is then returned to the family in an urn or other chosen memorial container.

A Sustainable Future

Choosing aquamation offers a meaningful way to honor your loved one while making a positive impact on the environment. This gentle process uses water instead of fire, produces no harmful pollutants, and greatly reduces emissions—providing a sustainable, respectful choice for families who value a greener farewell.
