Matthew R. Jernigan
Treasurer
Matthew’s life and career have been shaped by a deep commitment to service, family, and faith. Growing up around the funeral profession, he began working in the family business while still in high school, developing an early appreciation for the responsibility and privilege of caring for families during some of life’s most difficult moments.
After graduating, Matthew pursued studies in Funeral Service Education and business management, equipping himself with both the technical knowledge and leadership skills necessary to serve families and his community well. In 2014, he became a licensed funeral director in North Carolina and has since been honored to walk alongside families with compassion, professionalism, and genuine care.
Today, Matthew serves as a Co-Owner of the funeral home, continuing the legacy of service established by his grandfather, Larry D. Morrison. The values his grandfather instilled, treating every family with genuine care, compassion, and respect, remain at the heart of how Matthew approaches funeral service each day.
Matthew’s faith in Christ is central to his life and calling. He serves as a Shepherding Elder at Two Cities Church, where he and his family are deeply involved in ministry and community life. His faith shapes both how he lives and how he serves others.
Outside of work, Matthew enjoys spending time outdoors and with his family. An Eagle Scout, he has always appreciated the outdoors and enjoys hunting, fishing, and time in nature. He and his wife, Chelsea, are raising two boys, and much of his free time is spent coaching their teams and supporting them in their activities.
For Matthew, funeral service is more than a profession, it is a calling. He considers it a privilege to serve families with compassion and care while helping them honor the lives and legacies of those they love.
